Course Description: Are we using the best practices established by experts as we respectfully support and serve the LGBTQIA community? Learn more about the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Youth, review basic terminology for current issues like sexual orientation, gender identity and other important matters. 

Objectives:

This workshop is designed to help participants do the following:

a.      Learn affirming language and terminology to support LGBTQ+ youth.

b.      Identify at least 2 forms of trauma that disproportionately impact LGBTQ+ youth.

c.       Identify at least 3 ways to be more welcoming and affirming in their work with LGBTQ+ youth and their families.

d.      Become aware of some specific LGBTQ+ resources available in the community.
